The “Baking” Problem
A lot of the cheaper heaters on the market use basic glue or simple rubber grommets to keep water out. Here’s the thing: the heat from the infrared tube basically bakes those materials. Over time, they get brittle. They crack. And once there’s a tiny gap, moisture crawls right in. That leads to oxidation, a blown fuse, or a dead short. It happens all the time with consumer-grade units because their sealants just aren’t built for that kind of constant heat cycling.
Doing it the Right Way
We do things a bit differently to stop that aging process. We don’t just slap some glue on the wire and call it a day. We use high-temp silicone polymers and dual-wall adhesive heat-shrink tubing. It creates a seal that actually holds. The best part? The material stays flexible even after thousands of hours of soaking in heat. We also make sure the wire insulation can handle 200°C+. That way, the jacket doesn’t melt or peel away from the seal. Because let’s be real: if that seal fails, the whole heater is basically scrap metal. Using an OEM-grade process is the only way to make sure the electrical guts stay dry, no matter what the weather is doing.
One Quick Warning
Now, there is a trade-off. When you make a seal this robust, the wires aren’t as flexible. You can’t just bend these wires at sharp angles during installation.
