
No more shivering in the bathroom
We’ve all been there. You step out of the shower, the air is damp, and the second you hit that cold bathroom air, you start shivering. It’s miserable. That’s why we use short-wave infrared (IR) tech in our mirror heaters. Most heaters try to warm up the air in the room, which takes forever. Our approach is different. These units send heat straight to your skin and the surfaces around you. It’s instant. Inside the unit, there’s a quartz glass tube with a tungsten filament. The moment you flip the switch, that filament hits its peak temperature in a fraction of a second. You aren’t standing around waiting for the room to “warm up.” You feel the heat the second you turn it on. But here’s the clever part: we don’t just leave the heating element bare. If we did, half the heat would just disappear into the wall. Instead, we mount the tube against a high-reflectivity mirror or polished aluminum. This acts like a spotlight for heat, bouncing all those IR waves forward and right at you. It makes a low-wattage element feel incredibly powerful, so you get the warmth you want without tripping your circuit breaker. A few things to keep in mind for the install. We usually wire these into the lighting circuit or a dedicated 220V line, and we keep the housing slim so it hides right in the mirror frame. Just remember that IR heat works like a flashlight—it needs a clear line of sight. If something is blocking the heater, you won’t feel the warmth. Also, these tubes get seriously hot. If you mount them too close to cheap plastic or flimsy adhesives, things will start to warp. Give it at least 10cm of breathing room from anything that could melt or burn. Your bathroom (and your insurance agent) will thank you.
