The problem with “compatible” lamps
Here is the thing about generic lamps. Most of them claim they’ll work, but they’re usually off by 5% to 10% in actual wattage. In a high-speed rotary oven, that 5% gap is a big deal. It creates a cold spot. Suddenly, you’re spending more time fiddling with the oven settings than actually producing bottles. We spec our lamps to hit the original OEM wattage and voltage exactly. Every preform gets the same thermal load as it spins. It just works.
Built to take the heat
We use heavy-wall quartz glass because these bulbs take a beating with rapid thermal cycling. We also use a halogen cycle to keep the tungsten filament from evaporating too fast. Basically, the bulbs last longer before they burn out. And the install? It’s a breeze. We use standard R7s or Sk15 connectors, so they’re simple drop-in replacements. You won’t have to mess with your sockets or rewire your cabling. Just swap them and go.
A quick reality check on cooling
Now, there’s a trade-off. High-wattage shortwave IR lamps pack a massive punch of heat into the PET resin. You need that density to keep your cycle times fast. But that heat doesn’t just stay in the preform. It warms up the entire oven. If your cooling blowers are clogged or acting up, even the best lamp in the world will overheat its housing and die early. So, match your power, but for heaven’s sake,keep your ventilation clean.
