
Getting the Heat Right for Sidel Matrix and SIPA SFR 12
When it comes to replacing lamps in a Sidel Matrix or SIPA SFR 12, “close enough” just doesn’t cut it. If the heat isn’t hitting the preform exactly how the machine expects, you’re going to have a bad day. We didn’t want to make “compatible” lamps. We wanted to make lamps that act exactly like the ones that came from the factory. The science bit (kept simple) Here is the thing: if the wattage or the length is even slightly off, the heat flux shifts. That’s where the trouble starts. We use high-purity quartz and specific filament windings so the infrared energy peaks at the exact same wavelength as the OEM parts. Why does that matter? Because it means the PET preform absorbs the heat at the right speed. You won’t have to deal with those annoying thin walls or that cloudy, pearlescent look in your finished bottles. No headaches during install Nobody wants to spend their afternoon modifying an oven housing. We use standard industrial connectors, so you just plug them in and go. The quartz envelopes are tough enough to handle the pressure of a rotary blower, and we’ve added specific coatings to the glass. This pushes the IR energy inward toward the plastic instead of letting it bleed out into the oven walls. It’s just more efficient. Real talk from the shop floor These lamps pack a punch. They give you the fast thermal ramp-up you need to keep your cycle times quick. But a word of caution: your lamps are only as good as your reflectors. If your reflectors are pitted or oxidized, the energy won’t bounce back into the plastic. Even a perfect lamp will feel like it’s underperforming if the reflectors are dirty.
