
Making Your Waterproof Infrared Tables Actually “Smart”
We built these infrared heating tables with an IP44 rating for a reason: moisture is a nightmare for electronics. If you’re putting a heater in a bathroom or out on a patio, you can’t just use a standard unit or you’re asking for a short circuit. IP44 basically means the guts are protected from splashes and small debris, so you can actually relax without worrying about a few drops of water ruining your day. Why it feels different Most heaters try to warm up the air around you, which takes forever. These are different. They use short-wave infrared radiation and quartz elements, which means they don’t waste time. The second you flip the switch, you feel the heat hitting your skin. It’s instant. No waiting around in the cold while a fan slowly pushes lukewarm air your way. Getting them to talk to your home If you want to control these via an app or a voice command, you’ll need a solid relay or something like a Zigbee or Matter controller. Imagine hitting a “Winter Mode” button on your phone and having the table warm up before you even walk into the room. Pretty great, right? But here is the catch: these tables pull a lot of power. If you use a cheap, under-rated smart relay, it’s going to fry. Fast. To keep things safe, we suggest using high-amperage contactors. It keeps the “brains” of your smart home separate from the heavy lifting of the heating circuit. It’s just safer. The reality check Smart tech is handy, but it can be flaky. Wi-Fi drops. Hubs crash. That’s why we always include a physical override switch. Because when you’re freezing, the last thing you want to do is troubleshoot your router. One last thing—just because it’s IP44 doesn’t mean you can dunk it in a pool. It handles splashes, not pressure washers. I’d recommend giving the gaskets a quick check every six months. Just make sure everything is still tight so moisture doesn’t sneak into the wiring.
