
What Makes This Little Heater Tick
We built this small room heater around a 400V, 2500W halogen tube. Why? Because it packs a ton of heat into a small space. The tube is just 300mm long, so all that heat goes exactly where you need it—no wasted energy heating a giant chamber. And running at 400V? That keeps the current lower than a 230V setup. In practice, that means you can use smaller wiring and keep things clean when you’re fitting it into an existing control panel. The 2500W rating gives you a fast temperature ramp-up, which feels great when you’re in a hurry. But it also means you have to plan for the heat: the enclosure and cooling path need to be sized to handle it.
The Materials and the Thought Behind Them
The quartz envelope is filled with halogen gas. That helps keep the filament temperature steady, so you get consistent output over the life of the tube—and fewer early failures caused by heating up and cooling down again and again. We also added a reflective coating that pushes infrared energy forward. So more heat goes into the target area, and less gets wasted heating up the fixture itself. The R7s connector is a straight-blade, high-temperature design. It locks the tube in place and carries the full current without extra pigtails. Installation is straightforward: line it up and clamp it down. In production, that means a dependable, repeatable connection every time.
Where It Shines—and What to Keep in Mind
This setup is made for small, controlled heating zones in industrial work—drying, preheating, or any localized process heat where space is tight. Because the tube is compact and the R7s base mounts directly, you can fit it into tight machine bays. And when it’s time for maintenance, swapping it out is quick. You get predictable wattage, wiring that stays simple, and a solid thermal profile you can rely on. Just keep one thing in mind: that high power density is powerful, so you need proper ventilation and good thermal insulation around the chamber. That way, nearby components won’t get cooked.
