
Why we use 1500W infrared heaters in the bathroom
Most people think a bathroom heater is just about not shivering when you step out of the shower. But if you’ve ever dealt with a damp bathroom, you know the real enemy isn’t the cold—it’s that lingering, heavy moisture that just won’t go away. Standard heaters just warm up the air. The problem? That warm air doesn’t really do much for your walls. Moisture gets trapped in your tiles and grout, and that’s exactly where mold decides to move in. That’s why we went with 1500W infrared lamps. Here’s the thing: infrared doesn’t bother with the air. It beams heat directly into the surfaces of the room. It’s like the difference between standing in a warm breeze and feeling the sun on your skin. When your walls and ceiling actually get warm, the water trapped in them has nowhere to hide. It evaporates. We stuck with 1500W for a reason. If you go lower, you might feel a bit of warmth on your shoulders, but the core of your walls stays damp. You need that extra punch to actually push the moisture out of the grout. It basically turns your ceiling into a secondary dehumidifier. By keeping the surfaces warm, you mess with the “dew point”—which is just a fancy way of saying you stop the walls from getting sweaty. Mold hates that. It needs a cool, damp spot to grow, and these lamps just take that away. But, there are a couple of things to keep in mind. These lamps put out a lot of heat in a concentrated spot. You can’t just slap them anywhere. You need to make sure your wiring is up to the task and that there’s plenty of breathing room between the fixture and your ceiling materials. And don’t mount them too low. If you do, you’ll bake the area right under the lamp while the corners of the room stay soggy. It’s all about the spacing. Get that right, and you’ve got a dry, fresh bathroom without the constant battle against mildew.
